As a father, I'd rather be hassled unnecessarily by the cops over a misunderstanding than run the risk of having my kid hurt because someone assumed he was playing a joke. (Please, please, please don't let this turn into a civil liberties debate. I am a yearly contributor to the ACLU and EFF.) Yeah, kids will do that at that age.
