Everyone knows that the tramp stamp prevents identity theft.

Nothing pisses me off more than people referring to tattoos as tramp stamps. When a girl first wants to get a tattoo, everyone tells her that they are trashy, that they’ll limit her chances of getting a job, that they can’t be put anywhere that will expand during pregnancy, that they’ll interfere with medical procedures, and so on. The lower back is safe. It’s a testing ground that can be concealed if tattoo’s aren’t her thing. And it’s artwork, not a symbol of unbridled promiscuity.
Nobody walks around calling guys whores because of their tribal armbands they got when they were 18. Why? Because there is NO LOGICAL CONNECTION between a trendy tattoo of one’s youth and indiscretion with which one shares their loins.
So fuck off.

kristen has a tramp stamp y’all.

Kristen is regretting getting her tramp stamp, y’all.

Honestly, I have a lot of friends with tattoos on their lower back and alot of friends with no tattoos. And I gotta say, using myself who is not tattooed as an example, I’ve done more amoral and trampier things than the friends who have “tramp stamps” (ugh that term is so offensive.) So seriously, like Kristen said, fuck off. Tattoos have nothing to do with sexual character.
So go ahead, comment on that, boys. If you spent less time trying to categorize women, maybe you’d be getting laid right now instead of playing on the internet.

It sounds like the boys should just find you, Sally.
Seriously, I object to “tramp stamp” on the basis of it being too narrow. There’s nary a young woman today unwilling to make a slut of herself given a few drinks and a dimly lit room. You girls clamor for respect yet objectify yourselves with skimpy outfits, drunk flirting, and dancing with your arms in the air. Quite sickening, actually. The inked women aren’t more promiscuous, they just have a higher threshold for pain.

I don’t entirely disagree with the point you’re making. I think any currently or historically repressed group needs to prove their equality and capability, because, unfortunately, they are the first to be attacked and disregarded on frivolous grounds. We aren’t afforded forgiveness of our transgressions as often as our male counterparts. So, do I think that women who objectify themselves are inferior to those who do not? Absolutely not. Do I think they are being hypocritical in presenting themselves in this way while trying to *achieve* equality? Yes. We haven’t made it far enough to get the same privileges as the fellas in the boys club.
I disagree about all young women making ’sluts’ of themselves. The women you speak of are of the minority — they just have a stronger presence. And honestly, I think women would be better off if we could all find a way to make our presence felt in a beneficial way.

I’m pretty sure guys get made fun of for lame tattoos that they got in their youth, so it’s only fair that girls can be made fun of for lame tattoos as well.
Some sort of butterfly/tribal lower-back tattoo is cliched and not all that creative. It’s the same thing as a tribal/barb-wire armband on a guy.

My point, though, is that being made fun of for having no taste and being called a whore are not the same thing. I’m not bitching about it being called a “possible lack of personality and artistic sensibility” stamp. That often makes sense. Its the jump from that to whore-dom that makes no sense.
I hope someone reading this understands my point…

I hope someone reading this understands that you can’t consider a small number of people who share similar looking sets of genitals representative of the whole group of people who have said similar genitals.
Everyone is different - I know grouping people together based on similarities is easy but I hope that outside of overheard that most of the above posters (on both sides) don’t think that tattoo location is a good indication of a person’s full personality and that what your junk looks like is an equally silly way to group people.

My genitals say that I am friendly and welcoming.

aren’t there better “in equality” and double standards to bitch about than tramp stamp? I mean player vs. whore to start with.
I have a few girlfriends who got the butter fly/tribal/zodiac tattoo on their lower back. They call them tramp stamps with pride. I have a girlfriend who got a cross there, she called it her tramp stamp.
Least its better than one of my friends called it, the target.

From one girl to everyone else out there:
Still a tramp stamp. There are other places to get tattoos that can be just as easily covered.
Tattoos can be personal, yes… but tattooing yourself in a place that you can’t see without a mirror? And in a location where should you bend over to get something (whether it’s to get a guy’s attention or to get a file out of the cabinet at the office), the whole world gets to see it. If anything, a tattoo somewhere like that is pretty much just eye candy for lovers.
In short, tattoos on your lower back are meant to be seen. If you don’t want the stereotype, /think/ about it, and get a more meaningful tattoo placed somewhere else.

There are two reasons it’s called a “tramp stamp”.
1) It guides the eyes directly to the ass (and into the pants). Girls wear shirts that don’t cover their torsos, and most of the tattoos are large and have a point, in the middle, pointing downward.
2) “Tramp” and “stamp” rhyme. “Girl who was looking for” and “a creative outlet in her youth” do not.
There are classier places to get a tattoo. Shoulder blade, ankle, bear claws on top of the breasts…
