An Old Man is angrily beckoning his hard-of-hearing wife to the counter:
Old Man, to Counter Guy: JESUS CHRIST, SHE DOESN’T HAVE A FUCKING BRAIN IN HER HEAD!

i don’t think it was kind of that man to yell at his wife. i know that caretakers have a hard time, i’ve helped with family, but god, don’t yell at them.
isn’t that what the man did or am i missing something here?

I think you’re missing that as frustrating as it is to care for someone every minute of every day, it’s even more devastating when she’s the person you love most in the world. How can you comment so carelessly on something that psychologically complicated?

i will try to explain. my aunt has demetia. my uncle never yelled. no one yelled at her. it was frustrating and a long down hill slide, BUT she had moments, for years and we never knew when, that she was lucid and she understood that she was “losing it” it frightened her. yelling would have been like yelling and swearing at a toddler!
if that husband is frustrated and at wits end, there are “day care” places and people that will give him some resting time and she will be in safe hands and he can recharge, but i don’t like it, it worries and angers me, it makes me wonder,
what does he say to her at home in private since he said those words, swore at her like that in public??
keep in mind the age of the couple. they usually don’t use that language.
that is why i sad what i did. that man is losing his humanity. someone i hope will intervene. sad, yes, psychologically complex, yes. but still if he had her out in public to get food and had his back turned because she wasn’t at the stage to wander off, then she still has her faculties, still understands tho hard of hearing and those words wound. she is the ill one here. that’s what i meant by my comment. it is like yelling a toddler.
